It's awful to feel stuck in the business you created
When I got to that point with my first business, it scared the crap out of me.
Here I was, with an office full of employees, a bunch of happy clients, and one day I looked around and realized that I didn't like my job!
I was proud of what I had built, and proud of the work that we did, but ... something wasn't right.
Maybe some of this feels familiar:
- You're either too busy or not busy enough, and you can't seem to find a comfortable spot in the middle
- The tools, coaches, and consultants you've hired to help you get to the next level seem cool, but the results just aren't happening
- You use delegation, avoidance, or overwork to consciously or subconsciously avoid parts of your job that you are not comfortable with
- You've got a real passion for what your organization could become, but you're not there yet and you're out of ideas for how to get there
Let me tell you, I have been there and I think I can help you find your way out.
Everyone's journey is different, so your path won't be the same as mine, but I do know what to bring, what to leave behind, and how to navigate the journey.
It's not you, it's the system
“Professionalism,” and the expectation that your personal life shouldn’t impact your work, is a tool of the white patriarchy. In your education and work experience, you were probably taught that unemotional, rational, and agreeable were the primary characteristics you were expected to have at work. This allows all leaders (bad ones AND good ones) to ignore, minimize, or deny the ways that their own experiences, trauma, and systemic oppression impact the way they work.
Unfortunately, as women, queer, or BIPOC founders, we bring that subconscious training to our entrepreneurship, which creates blind spots in our businesses that hold us back.
When we stop compartmentalizing our "work" selves from our "real" selves, we can get honest about what's holding us back, and what follows next is magic: Integration.
Confidence and clarity are easier to get than you might think
Of course you want your business to be successful, but more than that, you want to know that you are creating impact and abundance for your team, your customers, your family, and our planet.
It takes great courage to make the subconscious conscious and acknowledge what unaddressed fears and hurts may be holding us back, but when we do, the growth is beautiful.
Integrated leaders:
- Bravely examine their own fears and blind spots so they can address them strategically
- Understand their personal relationship to power, money, and work, so that they can let their natural gifts work for them
- Are authentic, empathetic, and brave communicators
- Create impactful organizations that operate from abundance and collaboration
Most of all, integrated leaders thrive because they have taken the time to understand the bigger picture of who they are, what they have to offer, and how these things serve the collective.
How do I know? I've been there.
Hi, I'm Lindsay. Over the past decade I have worked with literally hundreds of organizations led by founders who are women, queer, or people of color. They hired me because they were “too busy to do marketing,” or simply didn’t know what marketing to do. At least, that’s what they said, but somehow I knew that wasn't the whole story.
You know how I know? I was exactly the same. The best marketing that ever got done for my own business was when I had the money to pay someone else to do it. I could generate the ideas, but consistently publishing felt impossible, so I outsourced it.
Now, thanks to lots and lots and lots of deep healing work, I have a clear understanding of what was actually happening: Like most of my clients, I’d been conditioned since birth to expect to be satisfied with what I was given. Ambition, desire for attention, fame, or influence were worse than bad–they were (gasp!) unattractive. What absolute crap.
Layering my “it’s an offer, not an ask,” philosophy on top of those deep-seated patriarchal lies did little to help me or my clients. We had all the tools, strategy, and knowledge we needed, but something still held us back.
You know what finally helped me break through? Magic mushrooms (psilocybin, if you're fancy).
You can read more about me and my first therapeutic journey (it was actually at a Phish concert) on the About page, but all you really need to know is that psilocybin is an extremely safe medicine that can radically change how you feel about yourself, your relationships, and your place in the world.

Mushrooms can be magic for impactful leaders
I believe that the quickest path to integration is through psychedelic and non-ordinary states of consciousness. These are ancient human practices that provide safe healing experiences to accelerate individual growth.
Aside from being super fun on a hike or at a concert, traditional plant medicines like psilocybin increase empathy, self-awareness, and ultimately self-acceptance. They can help you to understand and examine the subconscious beliefs that are impacting your behavior and holding you back.
